Negativity is something every writer, and person faces. It rears its head in many ways. From self-doubt, to an obnoxious critic of your work.
It can wreak havoc on the best of us. But there’s a sure-fire way to make sure it never bothers you.
You face it.
I don’t think you should ignore any negative influence(s), nor run away from them. Why? That just gives it the power to come re-visit you when you’re feeling vulnerable again.
I’d say the best way to combat this is to let it come to you. Yes. You read correctly. Let it come to you. And when it does you analyze it. You accept it for what it is. Then you kick the living shit out of it when you understand it really has no power over you or your writing destiny.
It may be cliche, but understanding your enemy is the best way to defeat it. Once you understand that negativity should be met head-on, you’ll realize that it never had the power to stop you in the first place.
