So you’ve got a new book out. Great. So do tons of other writers. But I’m broke you say. I’ve spent all my money on editing and hiring a great artist to design my book cover.
Not all of us can afford expensive advertising, and even if we could,I doubt it would help that much. Sure you’d get your name out, but that only works for established “big-name” Authors.
So where does that leave you? Well, in a way it’s good because this is how you develop your marketing skills. Develop ties with reviewers and readers. Go on blog tours. Get your name out there. It’s a crap shoot, but nobody said the writing business was easy.
Just remember to keep your expectations in check. I’m not saying you should give up all hope of becoming a brand-name author, but focus on writing the best book possible (yeah I know it’s cliche, but that’s the best advice for selling a book) and letting the Book Gods decide if they will shine a bit of literary success your way.
In the end you must enjoy the process. This isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s more about the journey, and becoming the type of person that doesn’t quit just because the situation gets difficult.

Thanks for the information!
You’re welcome.
I just read a similar post from another author/blogger about letting your writing speak for itself. Must be the universe trying to tell me something….
Could be.
