So you’re one of millions of writers trying to get their manuscript in front of an agent or major publisher. Well I’ve got news for you.
It’s not worth it.
Chances are, like millions of others, your efforts will go unnoticed.
These days, agents and publishers are looking for publishable material designed to sell.
They’re not interested in originality. And originality is what you must strive for. Sure there are tons of hacks out there making tons of dough with recycled plots and stale characters.
So don’t wasted your time with agents and big publishers. Be proactive, that’s the only way your work will see the light of day within a reasonable amount of time. I don’t say this to be negative, but rather because writing and publishing should be fun. It shouldn’t have to sap the best out of your creative spirit while waiting for someone to get back to you on your work.
But if you must independently publish remember three things.
1) Strive for originality
2) Invest in a good cover
3) Have the book beta-read and professionally edited
I wish you the best on your journey to publication.
