With self-publishing in full swing more and more writers are getting their books out there. But nowadays, with the barriers broken, and no gatekeepers to prevent you from achieving publication, the main issue is keeping your drive intact.
Most writers won’t have it easy: poor sales caused by lack of exposure and a ever-growing list of new releases daily is the main challenge.
But this is something that is out of your control. In essence you have to crush the doubtful voices in your head if you wish to remain true to your goal of making a living from writing.
Some writers write one book and spend all their time marketing it. That is a losing strategy. The odds of one book hitting it big these days is astronomically low. So how do I beat the odds you ask?
Simple: you keep writing.
The more books you get to market, the better chance you have of breaking out. It’s the writers who keep on writing for the sake of the craft that eventually make it.
So get your books out there, and keep fighting!
