If you’re embarking on the road to independent publishing or have already published, there’s one thing you must know above all else before putting your work on the public market.
Ready?
Never, ever, settle for a poorly-designed cover. Why?
Glad you asked. It’s hard enough trying to get attention for your book, why make it harder with a garbage cover?
I’ve seen tons of newly-published indie novels with covers that look like a 2 year old scribbled on them. If you’re not a graphic artist that knows what they’re doing, don’t risk potential sales with a cover that will turn off potential buyers. Instead, invest in a good cover, designed by a professional. These days an excellent cover can be purchased at affordable rates.
Always remember this. Because people really do judge a book by its cover.
