Why is writing so important? Simple: it is the transmission of emotions and thoughts onto paper, or a screen for others to enjoy. This leads to entertainment, and if the writing is worthy, it gives the reader something more. An emotional response.
That’s why people read. Entertainment is the obvious reason, but why do you think people want to be entertained? So they can emit emotion. Whether it’s fear, love, compassion, anger, etc. Being human is all about emotion, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion. It is the focal point for all higher thought.
If the writing can inspire the reader, then that leads to imagination development. I was very fortunate to have been exposed to great imagery and art when I was young and at an impressionable age.
If you look at the quality bestselling books, you’ll see they all have one thing in common: they all bring out powerful emotional responses from the reader, and inspire. They get their message across without being preachy and let the words do the talking.
That is why Writing is so important.
