Why I wrote The Leopard King Saga: Part I

The Leopard Vanguard

In August 2013, an unknown writer with an idea, embarked on a literary career. Armed with only a modest budget and big dreams, he released his debut novel to the entire world… That book was called The Leopard Vanguard. Yep. That’s me, T.A. Uner. I figured I’d write a two-part blog post, highlighting the reasons I decided to write what I write, which is Sci-Fi/Fantasy. But mainly I wanted to connect with people out there who haven’t had the chance to read my novels, and let them know what I went through to create them. Hopefully, my experience will help you with one of your long-term projects or goals. Be it writing a book, getting a new job or building a new section to your home.

So why did I decide to write about a story that takes place in 1st Century Rome, featuring fantasy elements? Simple. It’s what I know. I’ve loved Sci-Fi/Fantasy ever since I could read. It’s what I was meant to write. I knew going into this undertaking that it wouldn’t be easy. I mean, why would people want to read about a Roman Soldier with magical abilities, and his best friend and partner, which was a female Leopard? But my muse had me, and honestly, these characters of the Leopard King Saga meant so much to me. I find myself thinking about them every day. Weird right? Not really. It just goes to show that I made each character highly realistic, and that I believed in my idea. I still do today, I believed in it so much to name my website the LeopardKingSaga.com, and I stand by this decision, it is after all, my flagship series. Writing, like any art, is a labor of love. Yes I could’ve written something that was contemporary and may have attracted more attention, but why? Why would I not want to write the story that was in my heart. I had to. And that’s why I invested years of my time and own money to create this unique series. Because the Leopard King Saga isn’t just about Rome and magic, it’s about people, and their problems, and how they go about solving them. In short: the human condition. It’s also about making a dream come true. T.A. UNER is the Author of various novels and short stories.
