What draws you to a book?

Is it the cover? Author? Do you prefer a catchy blurb or detailed synopsis? Do you tend to give chances to newbie authors? What type of format do you like? eBook or paperback? Kindle, Kobo, Nook or Sony ereader?

I’d like to hear from you bibliophiles out there.
